Historical and Spiritual Heritage of Liska

Dating back to the 1800s, Liska became a well-known center for Jewish religious and cultural life. Annually, thousands of pilgrims visit Liska, honoring Tzvi Hirsh Liska’s memory. The village has over 500 Jewish landmarks, each contributing to the town’s historical depth. In the 1800s, about 3,000 Jews lived in Liska, forming a rich and vibrant community. The spiritual influence of Liska has spread to nearby areas like Kerestir, shaping Jewish communities across Hungary. Today, Liska attracts around 5,000 visitors annually, each drawn by its historical and spiritual significance.

Efforts to preserve Liska’s heritage are supported by both local and international groups.
